Dr. Baaj to Serve on SRS Education Committee

Dr. Ali A. Baaj, Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery and Co-Director of the Weill Cornell Medicine Brain and Spine Center’s Spinal Deformity and Scoliosis Program, has accepted an invitation to serve on the education committee of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) for the 2019-2020 term. The SRS, considered one of the top international spinal deformity organizations, has traditionally been made up of orthopedic spine surgeons; it now has a growing number of complex spinal neurosurgeons among its membership and leadership. The invitation was extended by Paul D. Sponseller, MD, MBA, SRS president-elect.

As a member of the education committee, Dr. Baaj will participate in the development and delivery of training courses, workshops, and webinars throughout the year. This is his second consecutive SRS committee appointment, having served on the SRS safety and value committee this past year. Dr. Baaj also serves on the education committee of the AOSpine organization.

“I consider myself privileged to be on the education committees of both the SRS and AOSpine,” says Dr. Baaj. “These are the two leading spine organizations globally, and I’m honored to be a part of both.”
