Research Fellowship in Biological Disc Repair, Regeneration, and Tissue Engineering

Weill Cornell Medicine Neurological Surgery offers this disc regeneration research fellowship to nurture and develop the academic careers of highly motivated individuals through basic, clinical, and multidisciplinary spinal research. Our program emphasizes the fundamentals of the scientific process, including the development of research questions and hypotheses; design of research studies; and composition of abstract publications, papers, and grants. Trainees are mentored by both basic science faculty (professor Lawrence Bonassar, Department of Biomechanical Engineering, Cornell University) and clinical faculty (professor Roger Härtl, WCM Neurological Surgery).

Research Subjects
  • Tissue engineering strategies for disc repair, regeneration, and replacement
  • Biological total disc replacement (in vivo studies)
  • Biological approaches to annulus fibrosus repair (in vivo studies)
  • Clinical research in minimally invasive spinal surgery and spinal navigation

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a degree in biomedical engineering (or related discipline) or M.D. and/or Ph.D.

Salary Range

$58,500-$65,863
